Post Inauguration 2025
It appears to me that since January 20th of this year there has been an exponential increase in confusion, indecision, division, deception and misunderstanding coming from our country's leadership, and of course this is reflected in the attitudes and behavior of the general public—all stemming from threats and intimidation flowing out of this current administration. This chronic negativity is caused by the many unfulfilled promises we are told to wait for during this (“time of transition”) or should we call it (“compliance”?). This prompts me to ask the question: Is this how we make America great again? Do we cultivate and promote peace, prosperity, friendship, and relationship this way? Is this what diplomacy looks like?
Why do we immediately attack
long time friends and allies while ingratiating ourselves to sworn
historical adversaries? Do we honestly think our adversaries have our
best interests in mind? Shouldn’t we be diplomatically promoting
friendship and developing stronger relationships, while addressing
our concerns and pursuing equitable agreements through compromise
solutions, and persevering until we achieve our objective? Isn’t
this a better way to display strength and be an example that the
world could and would emulate and reflect?
Do we want to be an example of how democracy works? Do any of us think we are being a good example to the world that we want others to emulate? Do we want our children and all future generations to grow up learning that this is the way to treat others?
Yes, I think we should all be required to prove we are citizens of this country in order to vote. Yes, I believe we should stop all illegal border crossings, but we should have a fair and just immigration system in place. That opportunity came and went last year when there was an agreed upon bi-partisan bill that couldn’t make it through Congress. I believe we can all still remember why. I believe there should be an immigration system that allows people to come here and work and possibly earn a pathway to citizenship. Yes, we should eliminate any and all fraud, corruption, abuse and stagnation from all governmental departments; and we know this does exist. This is true for anything that degrades the taxpayers’ dollar. The penalties should be severe as a deterrent to future abuse. This would include dismissing people who do not perform at required job performance levels. Government employment should not be considered an entitlement. However, this should be done in a studied, reasonably methodical way that targets only offenders (scalpel vs hatchet). Yes, we want a strong education system in this country that is fair and equitable—but that will never come from or through state sponsored education. We don’t have equality and equity now, and state sponsored education would only make it worse because every state is at at a different level of prosperity. We should not shut down whole federal government departments. We need at least a representation of all existing federal government departments because each has benefits that directly enhance the lives of us all. Most of us just don’t realize how much until they no longer exist.
The regulations we have concerning the environment are not only for our benefit but future generations as well. What kind of world do we want our children and future generations to live in? Do we want responsible experienced people at the helm of our government guiding our future? Or do we want “yes people” following the dictates of a single individual whose main concern is more about money/profit than anything else, and has no long term plan to promote this country’s longevity.
Do we want leaders who continually blame others for everything, oftentimes using derogatory language and threats? Is this a good example to our children about adult behavior? This attitude only breeds division, contention and offense. We need mature, experienced, responsible leaders who understand they will be held accountable and responsible for their words and actions, and speak only the truth when advising their superiors. We need dignified leaders with integrity who promote unity, equality and equity and can relate through personal experience to the average man or woman on the street.
The people of this Democratic Republic that we call home have always based their freedom on a non-violent exchange of ideas that in most cases eventually leads to an acceptable compromise mutually beneficial solution, as it should. No one gets everything they want, but most would get enough to satisfy. We enjoy all of the freedoms written in our Constitution, and should always feel free to express our opinions peacefully while using or enjoying these freedoms; free from any threats, violence, or negative retribution.
This country was founded on the principles and precepts outlined in the Bible. I realize many of us don’t know or understand this, but it is true-just do the research. For those of us that do have this knowledge and understanding I have to ask, do we actually believe these apply or pertain to us today, and do we follow them? The primary directive is: to love God (the creator of the universe) to love our neighbor as ourselves? Do we forgive others as He forgives us? We should all think on and consider these things with regard to ourselves and our country’s leadership.
Peace and Love, Amen
