Finding Freedom
4-1-26
It is difficult for me to write this message because it pains me to see so much of this world in chaos. Maybe I should just call this message my opinion. We all have those and the difference is what makes us all individually unique and one of a kind. This is the way God created us. What a dull and boring world this would be if we all thought, spoke, and acted in exactly the same way, although many of our opinions do have points that are similar and have shared interests. The one thing that really bothers me about opinions is that so many of us let someone else format our opinion for us. We don’t seam to want to exercise our own God-given ability to form our own ideas and perspective regarding situations or circumstances that affect us, our families, friends and community. Is it complacency, apathy, or fear? Why do so many people find it so difficult to research and seek the truth, oftentimes choosing to ignore indisputable evidence-based truth and falling back on either what they want to believe or what someone else has convinced them to believe? We tend to fall back into comfortable patterns of conformity that make us feel safe. But are we really? That behavior follows deception and we should know the origin of that.
We are bombarded 24/7 with news coverage that is for the most part bad news about things happening in our community and various other parts of the world. It’s not always all bad, they throw in some good here and there and that is refreshing and gives us hope. If we are paying close attention and listening with an open mind and heart most news does deliver the facts as they actually are. After that, we get the opinions of the people that are delivering this news and that is when the bias and distortions come out. We like certain people and they are believable to us, so we accept their opinions as the truth-or what they imply is the real story behind the factual story. Along with the news we are constantly hearing from politicians and elected officials who want us to believe their version of the truth. We should know and understand, “truth is not relative.” There can’t be different truths about anything or anybody based on our individual perspectives. There can only be one truth about anything or anybody and we need to actively search for it. To believe otherwise is a contradiction because there cannot be more than one truth. Not all of the news people, politicians and elected officials intentionally mislead us. There are some very hardworking honest people out there that just want to make our world a better place for all of us. We, as voters and influencers can insure there will be more.
I like to watch the news and that includes all the news from everywhere. The only problem with that is we don’t get all the news. We only hear what is happening in certain parts of the world and that is usually the dramatic or exciting news that involves violence, death, and destruction. I know we should get all the news, and there is news in various parts of the world that reflects the good qualities of mankind such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. That is Galatians 5:22-23. All of these qualities bring reconciliation and build relationship. This is the predominant example our children should grow up seeing and hearing, so that they will have an optimistic world view instead of the pessimistic one that our news outlets reflect. At the very least it should be a balanced world view. The world we live in should be a place where children grow up believing there are always opportunities to make this world a safer and better world than the one their parents grew up in. All they have to do is have the incentive to seize opportunities as they emerge, and then make the effort to achieve success. They need to have acquired the right attitude, dedication, the truth, and accept the responsibility that allows them to succeed and make a positive difference. Parents should be their guide and God should be guiding the parents.
To actually manifest true freedom in any society we have to have a surrendered and committed relationship with God. This is where we find the truth we all search for and this relationship will alleviate the stress and worry in our daily life. God is our source and provider. All we have to do is believe, trust, and keep the faith. Galatians 5:13-15.
Love and Peace, Amen
