THE CHURCH AND ABORTION- Value and Quality of Life

by Walter C. Scott Jan. 3, 2012

Jeremiah 1:5—Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.

Psalm 139:13—For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.

Here we are nearing a Presidential election and one of the major points of contention is once again”abortion”. Right to life verses freedom of choice. Everyone is of God, as described in the two preceding verses, and has a right to life. If everything we have is from God and belongs to God, then a woman's body is not hers to make exclusive decisions about another life inside her.

John 16:21—A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.

Isaiah 49:15—Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has born? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!

However, a point I fail to understand is the conservative establishment in America that stands on less Government, yet wants to abolish abortion by passing legislation and requiring enforcement of it. Abortion will undoubtedly go back underground, with all the negative consequences as before. This doesn't make sense, or solve the problem.

Before I go any further, I want to state emphatically that I don't support, and am NOT pro-abortion. I also emphatically don't agree with people carelessly having babies they don't want, and/or can't support on their own, without some form of assistance.

Matthew 19:14—Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.

Mark 10:14-15 & Luke 18:16-17—Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.

On October 31, 2011 the world's population passed 7 billion. What will be the planet's tipping point? When it can no longer sustain, support, and replenish itself. Did not God give us this earth and make us responsible for it by actively being faithful stewards of it and ourselves? At the current unchecked pace of humanity's growth it will take all our prayers and God's power and grace to save us from ourselves.

If I remember correctly, 25,000 children die of starvation and disease every day in Africa alone. This is a reflection of our current stewardship on earth. This also asks the question, would they have been better off being aborted during the first several weeks after conception, when death is quick, or should they be born into this world and suffer the slow, conscious death of disease, malnutrition, neglect, drug addiction, related physical and mental problems, etc. day after month after year?” They have no opportunity for education or proper training or guidance to make for themselves the tools needed to provide themselves and their families a better life. It is a repetitive, vicious cycle of misery and hopelessness.

Hebrews 2:14—Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity so that by his death He might destroy the power of death—that is, the devil.

Matthew 21:16--”Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, “From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise?”

In reality, abortion—or not—are only symptoms of the real problem; not the problem itself. The problem is a world that needs to learn and practice Christian principles and values. Let the Bible be your guide. Taking everything to God in prayer and doing as the Spirit instructs. Be the Good News to a desperate world. Let's bring Heaven to earth.

Mark16:15-16—He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”

In Luke 18:18-22, Jesus talked with a wealthy man who kept all the commandments, but asked Jesus what he still had to do to inherit eternal life as stated. Jesus said he still lacked one thing—give all he had to the poor and follow Him. He did not. This illustrates to me that we need to act decisively and with conviction and sacrifice in the resolution of a problem or situation. The Bible states that God knew us all before we were born or formed in the womb. I know he did; and I also know He was and still is waiting on us to make an attempt to resolve the real problems so He can bring about the Real Solution.

Proverbs 22:6—Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

2 Corinthians 12:14—After all, children should not have to save up for their parents, but parents for their children.

It is the parents' responsibility to instruct their children and be a righteous example for them to follow. Accept your responsibilities. It is also every good Christian's duty to help the world's children whenever acceptable and possible.

1 Corinthians 13:11-12—When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

Job 1:21—Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.

Staying Positive and Hopeful 8/7/25 I have always believed we all should chose to maintain a positive and hopeful attitude even when everything around us reflects uncertainty, deception, contention, semi-controlled chaos and fear of the unknown. Why should we let the world or anything in it control us? The only exception is what God has willed. A Christian person should always have hope, if not so much in this life always in the next. Our attitude and character should shine brightly in this world so that others might desire to follow our example and share the assured hope that we have always had. We know and understand why Jesus Christ came to this earth for the short time of 33 plus years. He came to give us an example of how we are to live our lives and ultimately to sacrifice His life so that we would have the opportunity to follow His example here on earth and eventually live for eternity in heaven with Him and Father God. Do we accept this opportunity or do we live our...

Reason for all Seasons

Reason for all Seasons 2 Corinthians 2:5-8 We have all heard people comment about the real reason for the season, which of course should be a celebration of the birth of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. I will not go over that because I believe it is everyone's free will choice to either acknowledge Him as that or not. We will all eventually have to make a decision regarding that sooner or later. I hope and pray that you make an affirmative decision to receive Him sooner. He is the answer you have all been searching for. What I would like to discuss now is how we interact with each other, not only during the holidays but throughout the year. Whether you believe God created the entire universe and everything and everyone in it, or not, the people on planet earth should, at least, make and effort to be civil to one another at all times. We need each other and very often depend on each other just to survive. 2 Corinthians 8:12-15. If you believe as I do that God created mank...

WORDS vs ACTIONS

WORDS vs ACTION James 2:14-26 11/25 I want to talk about a subject that has occupied my thoughts for many years and that is equality and equity. I know I have discussed this before but I continue to get a word from God which gives me better understanding and wisdom as time goes on. However, first I want to relay the abbreviated theme of a conversation I had with a person of influence and authority here in my area. We were discussing a chapter in a book I wrote in 2013. It involved my opinion about a proposed solution to our nations homeless/addiction issues in one of the chapters. I suggested we could use our closed military bases, prisons and mental hospitals to house these disadvantaged people. It wouldn’t be a prison environment but a secured safe place where people could strive to retrain, reeducate and reenter society and assume sober and clean productive lifestyle. These institutions would have an environment as close to the outside world as possible, meaning al...
