Reason for all Seasons

Reason for all Seasons 2 Corinthians 2:5-8 We have all heard people comment about the real reason for the season, which of course should be a celebration of the birth of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. I will not go over that because I believe it is everyone's free will choice to either acknowledge Him as that or not. We will all eventually have to make a decision regarding that sooner or later. I hope and pray that you make an affirmative decision to receive Him sooner. He is the answer you have all been searching for. What I would like to discuss now is how we interact with each other, not only during the holidays but throughout the year. Whether you believe God created the entire universe and everything and everyone in it, or not, the people on planet earth should, at least, make and effort to be civil to one another at all times. We need each other and very often depend on each other just to survive. 2 Corinthians 8:12-15. If you believe as I do that God created mank...

WORDS vs ACTIONS

WORDS vs ACTION James 2:14-26 11/25 I want to talk about a subject that has occupied my thoughts for many years and that is equality and equity. I know I have discussed this before but I continue to get a word from God which gives me better understanding and wisdom as time goes on. However, first I want to relay the abbreviated theme of a conversation I had with a person of influence and authority here in my area. We were discussing a chapter in a book I wrote in 2013. It involved my opinion about a proposed solution to our nations homeless/addiction issues in one of the chapters. I suggested we could use our closed military bases, prisons and mental hospitals to house these disadvantaged people. It wouldn’t be a prison environment but a secured safe place where people could strive to retrain, reeducate and reenter society and assume sober and clean productive lifestyle. These institutions would have an environment as close to the outside world as possible, meaning al...
OUR FUTURE 10-25 I wrote an article about two weeks ago about a public demonstration I witnessed in our town. I commented about the derogatory language that was used on some of the signs. One in particular was very offensive. You can read the particulars about it in my article titled Disappointed. I want to reemphasize the fact that we all have the Constitutionally guaranteed right to peacefully demonstrate and protest and no one should have a problem with that. However I do think we should all be respectful and be an example of how we would like to be treated or represented. What I wanted to talk about today is something that this country has been dealing with for some time now. I believe it started sometime in the 1950’s. Maybe even before but that is as far back as I can remember. This something I want to talk about is the violent, contentious, and divisive society we all exist in today. It was bad before but the Charlie Kirk assassination and resulting memorial serv...

DISAPPOINTED

DISAPPOINTED As I was driving down main street by the courthouse Saturday morning 8-23 about 9:45 A.M. I saw a lone young man standing on the sidewalk waving a flag. This flag said F… Trump. I was briefly offended but not surprised. As I came back through about 11:00 he was still there but had been joined by at least a dozen other people. I couldn’t read their signs but I hope they weren’t as bad and I hope they didn’t feel he was representing them also. That is one of the problems with individuals demonstrating this way. Oftentimes outsiders assume this one individual is representative of all who don’t like a particular person or group, and that is not true. This was even more true after reading the opinion page last week. The other unfortunate feature of this immature, juvenile behavior is it plays right into the hands of the opposition and they use this example to portray the attitude and character of everyone who opposes their candidate or position. Peaceful demon...
Staying Positive and Hopeful 8/7/25 I have always believed we all should chose to maintain a positive and hopeful attitude even when everything around us reflects uncertainty, deception, contention, semi-controlled chaos and fear of the unknown. Why should we let the world or anything in it control us? The only exception is what God has willed. A Christian person should always have hope, if not so much in this life always in the next. Our attitude and character should shine brightly in this world so that others might desire to follow our example and share the assured hope that we have always had. We know and understand why Jesus Christ came to this earth for the short time of 33 plus years. He came to give us an example of how we are to live our lives and ultimately to sacrifice His life so that we would have the opportunity to follow His example here on earth and eventually live for eternity in heaven with Him and Father God. Do we accept this opportunity or do we live our...
SURRENDER I was quoting a gentleman the other day by the name of William Booth who with his wife founded the Salvation Army and was its General for many years. He was called the “prophet to the poor”. He was born in England and also died there. I asked all who were present if they had ever heard the name and no one had. I said there are many anonymous Christian people in the world and many have said spoken very transformational words. What Mr. Booth said was, quote; “The greatness of a man’s power is the measure of his surrender.” To make it more contemporary for today I replaced man’s and his with persons and their. Women were never created by God to take a secondary position to men. We are all equal partners in this world. We just have different roles to fill. To get back to the main subject here I have to explain why I used this quote. I am now leading an exercise class at my church. I was giving an update in front of the congregation and I explained that our faithfu...

RESPECT

RESPECT Romans 13 To begin with I want to thank the entire staff at The Trinity Journal for an honest and fair representation of the continuously fluctuating mood of this community. All of the stories and opinions are written and allowed expression without showing favoritism and the facts as they are known in an unbiased and respectful manner. This is not fake or biased news. Thank you Wayne and staff. I have used the opinion/feedback section of this newspaper many times over many years and have never been disappointed by deleted or edited content. I believe it is very important for anyone using this section to have their personal opinion represented verbatim. Thank you Lee Hamilton for your knowledgeable insight. I agree. So, now I believe it is time to speak up about what I believe to be the disrespectful attitude many people are displaying. I have been disappointed by this, but not surprised. I have read the opinion pages over the last several weeks and it just seem...
