New Covenant Freedom Real and Practical

by Pastor Walt Scott, January 2014 What is New Covenant freedom, and how is it experienced in our life today? I think the following will answer that, but first let me explain the differences between the old and New Covenants. To begin, we as Christians do not worship, fellowship or in any way function or relate under old covenant written law. The old Mosaic covenant was written only for the Jewish nation. It required conformity and adherence to 613 written laws and required animal blood sacrifices as a covering for sin when a sin was committed. Under old covenant law God responded in faith when Jews remained obedient by atoning for any sins committed. God was faithful after Jews responded in faith. Now, not functioning under old covenant principles does not mean we don't respect old covenant law. We just accept and receive it under different conditions. The Old Testament is filled with God's teaching and wisdom for us, and should never be ignored. Our creation stor...

Freedom and Surrendering

By Pastors Walt and Sharron Scott November 4, 2013 Let's talk a bit about freedom and surrender. How do you think the average person living in the world would define “ freedom ”? I believe they would say it is the ability to do what we want, when we want, without having to answer to anyone. I think most teenagers think of freedom that way. How then, would those same people define “ surrender ”? I think “to give up” (especially our freedom). Resignation. Despair. Relinquishing. The outcome of surrender, in this mindset, is captivity. The yielding up to another. How about “ captivity ”? I think it would be the state of being imprisoned or incarcerated. To be in a state of subjugation, or even enslavement; to be held captive. And this next one has caused a stir: “ submission ” or “ humility ”. I think it's fair to say the worldly definition would be something like a dog rolling over and exposing it's belly. To give up, give in. To be meek, spiritless a...

Do Not Be Discouraged, Be Encouraged!

By Pastor Walter C. Scott, Let Go and Soar Ministries October, 2013 Romans 15:1-7 New International Version (NIV) 15  We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2  Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. 3  For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” [ a ] 4  For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. 5  May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6  so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7  Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. Throughout the entire Bible...
